Shielding Your Car from Bird Droppings: Tips and Tricks
Superior Detailer Best Tips and Tricks for Shielding Your Car from Bird Droppings
We know the scenario all too well: You walk outside to notice a bird dropping on your vehicle's paint work, ceramic coating, or paint protection film. How long has it been there? Does the following photo look familiar?
This is a very recent photo of our SD Tacoma. If left on the coating, this dropping could potentially damage the coating and paint protection film.
Luckily we noticed it right away and removed it with a microfiber cloth and distilled water. That's the beauty of having a Modesta ceramic coating on your vehicle.

Often times, especially in the Florida summer heat, we don't notice the damage until it's too late. Bird droppings, like love bugs, if gone unnoticed, can etch your clearcoat. This permanent damage can be prevented. We are here to provide you with some basic tips and reminders for protecting your vehicle from this permanent damage. See below:
- Park Smart: Choose parking spots away from trees, poles, and wires. Opt for covered parking whenever possible.
- Use a Car Cover: Invest in a car cover designed to protect against bird droppings. Use it when your car is parked outside for extended periods. (Contact us if you would like a recommendation that is safe for your Modesta coating).
- Prompt Cleaning: Regularly check for bird droppings and clean them promptly. If caught quickly, you can typically use a soft microfiber and distilled water to remove the droppings. Never scrub your Modesta coating to remove bugs or bird droppings!
- Consider Coatings: Apply a ceramic coating or wax to create a protective barrier on your car's paint, making it harder for bird droppings to stick. As mentioned above, a ceramic coating will provide an incredible amount of protection to shield from permanent damage.
- Regular Maintenance: Keep your car clean with regular washes
